FoodInno Club Hacks New Flavors for House

On April 3rd, U.C. Berkeley's FoodInno Club hosted a day-long "hackathon" where students came up with creative ideas for new House Kombucha flavors. The winning cohort (pictured at right) came up with "Goji Dragon," an Asian-themed elixir that combined white tea, goji berries, and dragon fruit. Delicious!

"I really enjoyed working with FoodInno," said House Kombucha CEO and Founder Rana Lehmer-Chang. "They did an excellent job synthesizing our company story and problem into clean, actionable objectives which were clearly communicated to the Hackathon participants.  They put together a pre-tasting event and day-long Hackathon and both events were professional executed at every level.  These young women surround themselves with top-notch advisors and are a true asset to their fellow students and community of food entrepreneurs. What a powerhouse of talented millenials!"

The top three teams were:

  • First Place: Goji Dragon (Team DCK)
  • Second Place: Cherry Dream (Team Kombucha Lab)
  • Third Place: Blueberry Bliss (Team Bliss)

All winners received free cases of House Kombucha. The First Place winners will also receive a tour of House Kombucha's operation, and ongoing mentorship for their food innovation ideas. A special thanks to Hailey Zhou, Cindy Ma, Agnes Zhu, Victoria Jing and the FoodInno team for organizing this amazing event!
